Passions
"I realize that we, as a generation, have already begun progressing towards a more open and accepting world in terms of identity, which includes issues like mental health stigma among others. However, it is crucial that we don't stop advocating for further progress in creating more accessible mental health help for everyone, regardless of their location or current state. I believe that one of the biggest things that prevent people from getting help is beliefs and opinions opposed to them from other people, whether it be from their family, school, or peers. These things that are forced upon them make them believe that speaking about their mental health issues is inappropriate and not allowed, which feeds into the stigma of silence. I want to challenge this, by creating a realm of open discussions for people who are struggling with issues like these, whether it be virtual or physical in mental help centres. I also think that having courses in school dedicated to knowledge on mental health, how to deal with it and how to help others would benefit everyone. I realize that this is not something that will happen overnight, and so another thing I would like to ensure is that we keep pushing for facilities and methods to help and educate as many people as we can."
A fun fact about me!
"A fun fact about me is that I enjoy being active and playing sports. I have played many sports growing up, and I have been fencing competitively for about 5 years. I have also always liked being outdoors, especially when the weather is nice. "

Passion #2
Writing
This school year, I have made it a goal of mine to become more involved in social issues and politics. That is why I have joined school courses such as the social justice class and law class, as well as taking part in clubs such as law society and feminism for change. I have also started a non-profit along with three classmates called Fempower, which helps to tackle issues regarding the pink tax among women and girls experiencing homelessness. I look forward to working with projectNINE to further challenge other stigmas that affect many.
I have always enjoyed writing, whether it be a longer essay, or a shorter piece. This year, I have shifter my focus more towards social sciences, law and business, and have enjoyed completing writing assignments for them. I have joined my school's newest TEDed club and wrote and delivered a speech for an event, and have become the head of promotions for a public speaking non-profit to further improve my writing and speech skills, as well as to pursue the passion of writing.
